The land has 2,800 feet of river frontage along with several springs & a large stocked pond.
In addition to the living quarters, the compound contains a modern architect-designed 3,200 square-foot workshop. This workshop, nicer than many homes, has tall ceilings, foam insulation, a full bath with laundry hookups, and central heat and AC. Behind the workshop is a 1,024 square foot shed for equipment storage, work projects, etc. Additionally, there is a 320 square foot well-insulated building behind the workshop, originally used as a dry-kiln for lumber. All the millwork within the house was made on-site by local skilled craftsmen. The workshop and dry-kiln were used to manufacture all the cabinetry, moldings, and millwork in the main house.
While many visitors are captivated by the elegant tasteful design and beauty of the structure, there is a stealth-like underlying design that is often overlooked by many. The exterior walls of the house are solid, poured concrete, extensively reinforced with steel rebar. To contain the concrete, energy-efficient ICF (Insulated Concrete Forms) were used. The heat & AC system uses ground source pumps designed by Water Furnace. The fireplaces have airtight glass doors to prevent heat escape, and sprayed-in foam was used throughout for insulation. The estate sits discretely off the beaten path and is gated with coded entry gates. Still, it is not so far out of the way as to make access to shopping difficult. Deer, turkey, and other wildlife roam the acreage and call it home. Access to high-speed internet is available and distributed throughout the housing.
Fishing: Trout and walleye fishing are rated tops, and floating between Mammoth Spring and Hardy is excellent for beginning and intermediate canoeists. Many areas of the upper Spring River are popular with fly fishermen. Outfitters and launch facilities are available along the Mammoth Spring-Hardy stretch (17 miles). Spring River is unique among Arkansas trout streams; its cold water comes naturally from a spring rather than artificially from deep within a man-made lake. Every hour, Mammoth Spring releases nine million gallons of 58-degree water, and the river stays cold enough to support a good trout population for 10 miles downstream.
Even though Spring River's trout water area is short, it has a lot of persity. The three-mile stretch from Mammoth Spring to Dam 3 (an old hydropower structure) is ideal for wading or fishing from the bank, except for the deep section near the dam, which provides good boat fishing.
Bank fishing is limited below Dam 3, both by streamside topography and the fact that both banks of the river are privately owned. There's a small wade-fishing/bank-fishing area alongside the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission's Spring River Hatchery, but aside from this area, the best way to fish the river downstream from the dam is from a canoe. Rentals are available near the hatchery, or you can launch your own at the public ramp.
The first three miles below Dam 3 provide the best action and the biggest fish. One-pound to three-pound rainbows are fairly common, although most fish are recently released stockers. Brown trout provide a trophy-trout facet to the river's fishing profile. Although you'll find fish in deep-water runs, the best fishing is usually just below riffles and falls.
The Spring is hard to beat for stream walleye fishing. Some sampling surveys in recent years revealed more walleye than trout in the Spring River. Between Mammoth Spring and Hardy, try jigs in the foamy water below shoals and waterfalls. Farther downstream from Myatt Creek to the river's mouth, walleye are scarcer but bigger, with several 12- to 15-pound fish caught in recent years. Boulders and riffle areas are the best spots for catching stream walleye
Eleven Point Scenic River
The Eleven Point National Scenic River was established in 1968 as a 44-mile scenic river, free of impoundments with a largely undeveloped shoreline and watershed. This portion of the river between Thomasville, Missouri and the Highway 142 bridge is near Gatewood, Missouri. It became one of the 8 initial units of the National Wild and Scenic River system in 1968. The Eleven Point River meanders through the picturesque Ozark hills of southern Missouri. Its course is cut in the shadows of steep bluffs, through sloping forested valleys, and low lying riparian ecosystems. Barely more than a small stream at its upper reaches near Thomasville, it gains considerable width and depth as its proceeds south-eastward. Springs pouring from dolomite bluffs or rushing up from a vast network of underground flow systems provide a continuous source of water and beauty. Alternating stretches of rapids and deep clear pools wind around moss-covered boulders and shading bottomland hardwood trees.
Mark Twain National Forest
Mark Twain National Forest has a wide range of popular recreation opportunities. The forest has over 750 miles of trails for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and motorized use. Sections of the Ozark Trail wind through the forest. More than 350 miles of perennial streams, suitable for floating canoeing and kayaking, meander through its canopied expanses. Our campgrounds offer visitors a variety of forest experiences, including semi-primitive and wilderness camping for solitude.
The Mark Twain National Forest has 1.4 million acres of land open to public hunting. There are no hunting fees charged by the U.S. Forest Service to hunt on the Mark Twain National Forest. Hunted species include but are not limited to the following: Deer, turkey, rabbit, squirrel, woodcock, mourning doves, ducks, raccoon, bobcat, fox, and coyote.
